I just broke up with my boyfriend... now I'm wondering if I made a mistake...?

Is this normal? It would be lame to go back and talk to the him, right? He is sooooo devastated and I would hate to jerk him around. If you breakup with someone, it's usually a good rule of thumb to stay broken up, right? He told me he loved me in the first month and I got a little bit wary and then he started getting frustrated at about two months because I wasn't there yet and also, I was treating him more casually than he treated me. Did I make the right decision? He was so honest and straightforward with me. Did I not give him enough of a chance? We only dated for 2 months. Oh, I'm soooooo confused. Help!
