Can the pword be byped on Windows XP WITHOUT using the keboard?

Sounds strange, but its true. All the consonants hve stopped working on my Packard Bell laptop keyboard. Only the vowels and the number 4 work. I bught a USB keyboard, but found I still had the same problem. I cant get in to restore the system, never mind to back it up first. Is there any way round this, and even better, a way round it without losing all the data on the computer. Thanks
