Snowboarding bindings?

i recently have started to snowboard. I bought a used gnu board and am now looking for boots and bindings. i have been trying to find cheaper ones because i am just beginning but im not quite sure how to go about buying these. i wear a size 11.5 or 12 in boots. someone told me to buy a pair of drake bindings but get XL size because Drake sizing is wierd. is that good advice?
